In the wine business, there are two kinds of accounts that wholesalers deal with. “On premise” refers to businesses like bars and restaurants, where the product is consumed at the point of purchase. Retail establishments are considered to be “off premise,” where the product is consumed away from the business. While off premise wine accounts for nearly two thirds of the market annually, on premise sales are very important because they lead to exposure for brands. And more importantly, positive experiences at on premise locations often leads to sales at off premise businesses like DB Fine Wines! While the same product is sold for two different prices and with much different profit margins, the same time and effort is put in to choosing wines for a high end wine list and the shelves of a high end wine shop. And for the same reason: to deliver wine with a great quality to price ratio for the customer.
