"The funnel end of the Rhône Valley, where it releases its traffic to the Mediterranean, has a place in every traveler’s affections. History and natural history combine to make it one of the richest regions of France for interests of every kind. Who cannot picture the vast engineering of the Romans, or lizards alert on its slumbering stones, plots of early vegetables screened from the mistral, the pines and almonds yielding to olive groves in the far south – and always, on a hillside or plain, sand and or clay, the cross stitch of vines?"

These vines lie baking on broad terraces of smooth, round stones warmed by the sun, almost invariably a rich mix of varieties. In the South, the dominant grape for red wines is the versatile Grenache, increasingly supplemented by Mourvèdre, Cinsault, Syrah & a “crayon box” of other varietals. The heart of the region, the vineyards that sum up all its qualities, are found in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Join us for an afternoon of tasting Châteauneuf-du-Pape… Reds for sure, and Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc as well!!
