Bott Freres Pinot Blanc Tradition 2022
Served @ DB's "7-Fishes" Tasting. Top seller!
Bott Frères is located in the village of Ribeauvillé, in the heart of Alsace. Since 1835, some of the oldest wine know-how has been transmitted from generation to generation; father to son. The Bott family does not manufacture wine, it cultivates it. On the estate's vineyards, seven varieties are grown and produced in a wide array of soils and the subsequent wines made in a range of styles. The grape harvest is undertaken manually and the output is monitored in order to produce high quality wines. Aging takes place in century old oak casks. The results are some of the most food friendly and distinctive wines from Alsace. Since 2019, the estate has been in transition to organic certification.
Known as Weissburgunder in German speaking countries or Pinot Bianco in Italy, Pinot Blanc produces wines that are an exemplary balance of fruity and fresh, and Domaine Bott Frères is no exception. In the glass, the wine pours a clear straw color with an expressive bouquet of well-ripened orchard fruits. In the mouth, the wine has a refreshing, thirst-quenching character, yet exhibits a lovely suppleness on the mid-palate. The finish is energetic with a lovely rounded texture and flavors of ripe pear, Honeycrisp apple and spice. This Pinot Blanc goes supremely well with steamed and smoked fishes, though it may also be enjoyed with white meats served with light and creamy sauces.
