Chateau Sainte Croix - Charmeur Rose 2023
#1 Selling Provence Rose Value.
Established in 1927, Château Sainte Croix sits on 50 hectares in the town of Carcès. Family-owned for four generations, the estate was a former fortress built in the 12th century by Cistercian monks. After being purchased by the Pélépol family in 1924, the property stopped contributing grapes to the Carcès cooperative and began making their own wine three short years later. The vineyards are deeply rooted in clayey-calcareous soils that are mixed with sandy deposits.
The Château Sainte Croix Charmeur rosé — the flagship wine of this historic estate — is a blend of 50% Grenache, 30% Cinsault and 20% Syrah. As its name suggests, this is a real charmer. The wine pours a light salmon color with a pale, water-white rim. On the nose, intense aromas of strawberry, cherry and raspberry intermingle with subtle sweet spice, all of which are further complimented by a mineral petrichor note. The palate is fresh and lively with texture, elegance and discreet power. Flavors of berries, white peach and melon wash across the palate and lead into a charming, saline-tinged, mineral finish. Enjoy with vegetables (raw or roasted) served with aioli, an assorted charcuterie board or a plate of chilled seafood fresh from the ocean.
