Clay Shannon The David Red Lake County 2021
Served @ DB's "Cali Blend" Tasting. Incredible QPR
A wine has to be mighty special to put your own name on it—and that’s why these wines bear the name Clay Shannon. With his roots firmly planted in the vineyard, Clay’s passion is simple: grow the best fruit possible while preserving the land for future generations. For us, sustainability isn’t just a philosophy—it’s a way of life. And these wonderfully distinctive wines—and our magnificent vineyards—are our legacy. We couldn’t be more proud to share them with you.
Tasting Notes: Ruby black center with tones of crimson toward the rim. Darkly packed with black fruits such as currants, blackberries, black plums, and raw chocolate. Rich on the palate, with lots of plush mid- and back-palate presence, showing notes of Madagascar vanilla, clove, and violet. The richness speaks to the power of the Mayacamas Mountain range and the affinity the Cabernet Sauvignon family of varieties shows for this area of the world. Bay laurel and a touch of graphite round out the long, polished finish. Way too good to be sold for so little. Drink now–2037.
This wine is deep, purple hued with aromas of Black cherry, Blackberry, sandalwood, clove, toasty spiced oak, and violets on the nose. The flavors on the palate are black plum, huckleberry, orange blossom, vanilla cream, clove layered with black peppercorn, espresso, tobacco leaves and a long finish. Pair with grilled Rib Eye Steak
