The wines for Hazel & Axe are made by Kevin Morrisey. Kevin started his wine journey interning for Chateau Petrus in 1997. His wine education was then polished under Tony Soter at Etude. Kevin has also produced incredible wine for Ehlers Estate in St Helena. Kevin currently serves as winemaker of Erikson & Caradin crafting small lot offerings in the $70-$200 range. Hazel & Axe is Erikson and Caradin’s “Value” label.

Continuing his vision from Etude Morrisey made the 2022 Hazel & Axe with grapes from Napa, Sonoma and Mendicino. Showcasing bold, dark fruit flavors of blackberry and cassis, harmoniously balanced with subtle oak nuances. A well-structured body, with velvet-like tannins and a lingering finish, make it a timeless representation of the classic California Cabernet

93 Pts Decanter - Hazel & Axe is crafted by Kevin Morrisey (formerly of Ehlers Estate), and the 2022 marks his second vintage release. Wonderfully bright and fresh, this wine offers attractive blue fruit and floral aromatics, complemented by espresso bean notes and lavish toasty oak. Medium to full-bodied, it features juicy blueberry and black cherry compote, pie spices, and elegant cedarwood and tobacco on an extended finish. Just delicious and a tremendous value.
