Kinsella Winery is owned by Kevin Kinsella. Kevin had a very successful career as a venture capitalist and provided funding to the hit musical “Jersey Boys”. Having a top-selling Broadway show gives you the means to create a top-shelf winery and bring in top-tier talent. Kevin teamed up with Thomas Rivers Brown (Schrader, Outpost, Maybach, Revana) to produce Kinsella Estates. 
 
Mentioning the name Thomas Rivers Brown is probably enough for some customers to pull the trigger on this offer. You do not see too many wines produced by Thomas under $100 at this point. Thomas is the most decorated Winemaker alive in Napa today. There are more 100 Pt scores to his credit than any winemaker who currently walks this earth, 27 for Schrader alone. Thomas was featured on the cover of Wine Spectator and was labeled “Napa’s Top Gun”. There are very few winemakers in Napa that can be compared to Thomas.
 
Kinsella estates has racked up countless high scores on their flagship Cabernets. “K2” represents the second wine of Kinsella and it’s a 100% estate-grown blend of two flagship vineyards, “Jersey Boys” and “Spencer” vineyards. The Single Vineyard expressions from Kinsella will run you $150+ a bottle. Simply put, this wine punches WAY above its weight.

Kinsella Estates "K2" is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon from the Jersey Boys Vineyard and the Mendocino Mountains. It's a second label wine from Kinsella Estates, created to attract a wider audience of buyers. The name "KK" represents the first letters of the winemaker's first and last name.
 
Tasting Notes: Smooth mid-palate with decent depth/concentration - medium/medium plus body. Nice rich flavors of cassis, cocoa, and some spices. Fairly long finish. Decanted for a couple hours and drank over a couple more.
