Pelissero Barbaresco Nubiola 2007
Azienda Agricola Pelissero is a family-run vine-growing estate located in the district of Treiso, in the heart of the Barbaresco zone. Many gradual changes have been performed by the successive generations of the Pelissero family, who transformed their business from grape growing and selling begun by Giovanni Pelissero, into winemaking of all their estate-grown grapes.
The first bottles of our own wine date back to 1960 and were produced by Luigi Pelissero, whose work was followed by his son, Oenologist Giorgio who after finishing his studies, decided to work full time at the winery. The Pelissero family takes care of all the winery work; from pruning the vines to marketing the wine.
Winemaker Notes: The Nubiola is made from fruit sourced from vineyards in Barbaresco, Neive and Treiso, epicenter of the Barabaresco zone, and is aged in cask. The tannins and structure of this wine make it the most classic of the Pelissero Barbarescos.
The 2007 Barbaresco Nubiola caresses the palate with layers of round, sumptuous fruit. This is a more generous, enveloping style than the Tulin, and shows just an extra touch more depth. Dark red fruit, sweet spices, flowers, licorice and new leather come together beautifully in this harmonious Barbaresco. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2027.
Nebbiolo, the grape, and Nubiola, the designate name, stem from the same Italian word: nebbia, or “fog” that regularly blankets the Langhe. This bright Barbaresco is defined by a distinctive aroma of tar or freshly applied street asphalt that is typical of the variety. Additional aromas include back fruit, prune and plum. The mouthfeel is streamlined, tight and elegant.
