Smokescreen Napa Cabernet 2021
The Fiftyrow label was formed back in 2002 by Paul Johnson and Gary Galleron. Gary Galleron is a legendary winemaker with 100 Pt scores to his credit. Gary has made wine for Vineyard 29, Chateau Montelena, Hartwell, Del Dotto, and MANY other top producers of Napa Cabernet. Fiftyrow is in the heart of Napa, and their winery neighbors’ wines that sell for $100 a bottle an up. Gary and Paul wanted to produce wines of the same caliber, but they wanted to make the wines more accessible for much of the population to get their hands on.
Tasting Notes: This Cabernet is a big, fruit forward wine. It is purple in color with tons of texture. The 2021 has aromas of blackcurrants, cassis and dark chocolate. On the palate, it is a full-bodied wine with notes of dark fruits, toasted mocha, hazelnut, and blueberries ending in a long finish with polished fine tannins. Although we make the Smokescreen wines to be drinkable at release, it can be aged for years to come.
