Vina Cobos Bramare Lujan de Cuyo Malbec 2021

Vina Cobos Description

Viña Cobos makes wines that are authentic expressions of the terroir from which they come. Paul Hobbs, founding partner and winemaker at Viña Cobos, has worked since 1988 in the exploration of the different terroirs of Mendoza, looking for the most distinguished regions in Luján de Cuyo and the Valle de Uco, to produce wines that uniquely express their origins.

Sustainable farming methods in the vineyard contribute to consistent yields of healthy fruit. In the winery, careful treatment of the grapes and meticulous winemaking techniques result in complex and elegant wines of subtlety and balance.

With the inaugural vintage of Cobos Malbec in 1999, Viña Cobos marked a milestone in viticulture, defying existing standards and firmly positioned Malbec and Argentina on the international wine scene. Since then, our prestigious wines have been recognized around the globe by critics and consumers alike.

Winemaker Notes: Intense ruby red with violet reflections. Aromas of red and black fruits with notes of sweet spices. On the palate it has concentration, sweet tannins, and a long finish.

James Suckling: 94 Points

A tight and beautiful wine with sliced berries, chocolate, hazelnut, and bitter chocolate. Medium body. Medium chewy fruit and a chocolate, walnut and stone finish. Needs time to open.

Vinous: 93 Points

The 2021 Malbec Bramare Luján de Cuyo, Mendoza, was aged for 18 months in French oak barrels, with 22% of them being new. Purple in color, this complex wine presents cedar and plum notes, accompanied by menthol and white pepper hints. Dry, plush and bold, the generous palate flows smoothly with a creamy texture, leading to a lasting fruit finish. It’s rich red with the muscular yet supple mouthfeel characteristic of Luján de Cuyo.

Wine Enthusiast: 91 Points

The winery was founded by Paul Hobbs in 1998. The winemaker and his local team focus on Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon, two grapes that love Mendoza's terroir. This is a balanced Malbec, with notes of raspberry and oak-driven aromas. It delivers flavors of cherry jam, mulberry, herbs and vanilla bean. Excellent acidity infuses energy to the palate, as round tannins provide support.
