Louis Robin Chablis 1er Cru Vosgros 2021

The Robin family has owned their vineyard in Chablis since 1836. In 1888, they moved to Chichée, a small village 3 km southeast of Chablis. Today, the family owns about thirty hectares of vineyards in the best locations in Chichée and Chablis. Domaine Louis Robin is run by brothers Thierry, and Didier Robin, the eighth generation of the family to run the estate. Wines are made in the traditional style of Chablis, with Chardonnay grapes fermented at a cool 18-20 degrees Celsius, to retain the characteristic minerality, acidity and freshness. They then go through malolactic fermentation, which gives substance and a creamy, rounded finish. This is then complemented by one year's ageing in stainless steel - the final stage in the winemaking process.
 
Louis Robin puts great emphasis on highlighting the aromatics of their wines, and making sure the minerality is prevalent in the body of the wines. Both wines are extremely balanced, very low ABV% of 12.5%. Crisp, zippy, everything you look for in great Chablis. You can drink these now, or age both wines out another 5 to 10 years.

The Vineyard: The vineyard is in the commune of Chichée, on the left bank of the Serein, facing south and south-west. The soil is limestone, with occasional outcrops of pebbles. It benefits greatly from the sun, and its amphitheater shape has the advantage of protecting it from the wind.
 
Tasting notes: Very beautiful pale-yellow gold color with light green highlights. Brilliant, luminous, and limpid. The palate is particularly fine and of absolute elegance. The flavors of white flowers that we have on the nose are perfectly present. The mid-palate is supple and straightforward, but also contains a silky fruitiness followed by a long aromatic finish.
