This wine comes to us from a traditional producer that produces wines using modern techniques. Amazed by the beauty of the landscape, Pierluigi Tagliabue decided to purchase the estate in 1979, and began the restructuring the property. Today, Villa Poggio Salvi counts 21 hectares of vineyards in Montalcino, all planted with clones of Sangiovese Grosso. The optimum altitude, between 300 and 500 meters, the soil rich of clay and the breeze coming from the Tyrrhenian Sea, maintain the soil and the climate perfect for vineyards. Villa Poggio Salvi owes its name to its fortunate location on the South side of Montalcino, overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea. Clean air and the perfumes coming from the dense oak forests and the Mediterranean that surround the company, attracted here people coming from Maremma since ancient times.
A very fine-tannined red with dark-berry, rose-hip, bark and cedar character. It’s medium-bodied with firm tannins that are polished and juicy. Hints of ash and spice to it all. Shows class and structure
The 2019 Brunello di Montalcino is youthfully coy, wafting up with a pretty blend of dried strawberries, rose petals and fresh mint. It flows easily across the palate, lifted and spry, showcasing tart red and blue fruits as tactile mineral tones from toward the close. The 2019 finishes perfumed and long, with a staining of blackberry and sage as edgy tannins resonate. Patience will be required.
