Vista Russian River Reserve Pinot Noir 2019
Vista is produced by Grant Long Jr, proprietor or Aonair and Reverie II. You might not be familiar with grant, he is one of the best wine makers you have never heard of. His wines are cult productions that sell off mailing lists, typically his wines are north of $100. The Vista label he produces offers serious quality to price ratio.
The Russian River is home to some of the best Pinot Noir Producers in California. DuMol, Kosta Browne, Williams Selyem, Rochioli, Kistler, and many more all make top quality pinot noir in the Russian River. While these producers are wonderful, and their quality is off the charts, their wines can easily run you $150-$200 a bottle. While we cannot tell you who, we sourced the fruit from a Top Russian River single vineyard that goes into a wine that sells for exponentially higher than it will under the Vista label. Please do not ask, we are not at liberty to divulge.
Tasting Notes: The traditional notes of red fruit, cherry, strawberry, raspberry, pleasantly jump out of the glass and invade the senses. On palate, the red fruits are also greeted by some dark cherries, and a cameo appearance of a dab of blue fruit. The wine is balanced by a pleasant note of spice and forest floor to let you know you are not drinking over-extracted fruit bomb. The wine has amazing texture, and a silky mouthfeel. This is a wine that seduces the palate, and will bring joy to any palate that appreciates great new world pinot noir!
