Escarpment Chardonnay Martinborough 2019
Served @ DB's "Great underlying Winemaker's Tasting"
Winemaker's tasting notes: Sourced primarily from the home block on Te Muna Road on the Martinborough Terrace. A chardonnay of distinction and complexity with striking minerality and a typical varietal character reminiscent of it's terroir and Escarpment's winemaking philosophy.
This white is fruit-forward, with ripe peach and melon backed by notes of cream, nut, toast and a slight saline nuance. The bright fruit on the palate is lifted further by zingy acidity. Oak and lees influence add texture and depth, and the finish suggests something more mineral.
